Grant Application Portal for DC Homeowner Assistance Fund
$50M in homeowner assistance
Through the American Rescue Plan, the U.S. Treasury made available to the District at least $50 million in Homeowner Assistance Funds (HAF). The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) launched a Homeowner Assistance Fund Pilot Program to assist income-qualified District homeowners facing financial hardship from COVID-19.
Eligibility required homeowners to own a condominium in DC zip codes 20019, 20020, 20024, and 20032; purchase it using down payment and/or closing cost assistance from DHCD; and be behind on mortgage or property-related payments. The goal is to help eligible homeowners keep their homes and because the support comes in the form of a grant, it does not need to be paid back.
Humantiply constructed the homeowner application portal, application review tools, email systems, and complex data automations needed to power this crucial government program. In partnership with LEDC, we delivered the full system. To date thousands of homeowners have utilized the online application system to apply for mortgage relief. Humantiply and LEDC collaborate with major financial institutions including Wells Fargo and Bank of America to distribute payments and relieve homeowner mortgage distress.
